Living Places: Archaeology, Continuity and Change at Historic Monuments in Northern Ireland.

Living PlacesAuthor: DONNELLY, Colm.

Belfast: Institute of Irish Studies. xiv, 146 pages. Illustrated. Paperback.

Historic monuments contain a wealth of information on how our ancestors lived, each site representing an expression of past human activity in a locality. This book examines the variety, richness and chronological range of historic monuments in Northern Ireland by concentrating on 32 sites which span the centuries from the Mesolithic to Early Modern times. As well as describing each site and its history, the text provides introductory features on a variety of topics including archaeological dating methods and past cultures. The book presents the work accessibly and should encourage and extend interest in our archaeological heritage.
