Joe Kelly, Orthopaedic Surgeon, and University Lecturer, studied in Ireland, U.S.A., and in the U.K. He has had a life long interest in history and archaeology, and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland, a member of the Galway, North Munster and Westport Archaeology and Historical Societies. In 1995 he became hon. Ollamh (historian and genealogist) to the Kelly Clan Association. He has lectured on the Kellys, in Ireland, England, the USA and Canada. He is married to Angela Kehoe and they have six children: Tomas, Joe, Una, Aonghus, Eadaoin and Galvea. He is at present engaged in compiling the Annals of the Kellys covering a thousand years of Kelley, O’Kelly and Kelly history.
